Korean brand HJC Helmet have terminated a contract with their lead rider, Jorge Lorenzo after a falling out with the Mallorcan.

According to motoplus, the controversy that surrounded the end of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship between Lorenzo and his team mate, Valentino Rossi made HJC question their association with the five-time World Champion. They were said to be unhappy with Lorenzo’s thumbs down gesture as well as his calling for a harsher punishment of Rossi.

The straw that broke the camels back is said to be when Lorenzo secured his third MotoGP World Championship he neglected to wear a special “World Champion” helmet, as now customary for newly crowned champions. The special helmet was a commemorative helmet with the number one on it.

Those actions, combined with Lorenzo’s earlier complaints about his helmet after he faced issues in Qatar (plastic above the brow fell down) and Silverstone (visor misting) has forced HJC to end their association with Lorenzo.

Early reports suggest French manufacture Shark are leading the race to secure Lorenzo’s signature, although nothing has been confirmed. Shark currently sponsor the likes of Scott Redding, Aleix Espargaro and Moto2 World Champion Johann Zarco.

What? A company that values integrity, honour, and thinks poor sportsmanship has no place in MotoGP?
Now there’s an excellent idea that they should tell to Honda.

Proper order, his thumbs down gesture on the podium when Rossi came 3rd after his clash with Marquez showed total disrespect for his team mate and also Yamaha.
IMO, he should be dropped by Yamaha too.

the guy that showed total disrespect was rossi. He didn’t show up at the podium nor the conference. Started the whole thing because he knew he would never win nor showed up for the awards. If anybody is disrespectful it’s rossi as he thinks everything should be handed to him. Actually asked Danny why are you racing me so hard after aragon

Rossi didn’t show up at what podium? The last round? He finished 4th, why would he be on the podium?
