Fenati signs with Ongetta Honda for 2017
Romano Fenati will be back in the World Championship paddock, returning to the Moto3 World Championship with the Ongetta Honda team, it has been confirmed this evening in Misano.
The Italian has signed a deal with the Ongetta Honda team from 2017, now his contract situation with the VR46 riders academy has been resolved.
Fenati had a very public break-up with the Sky VR46 team. Rumours from Spain suggested that he had been involved in a fist fight with Valentino Rossi’s best friend Uccio. However, once the dust settled it was clarified that the primary reason behind the break up was due to Fenati’s reluctance to relocate and fully commit to the VR46 Riders Academy in Tavuilla.
Fenati supposedly spoke to the Ongetta team immediately after his dismissal from the VR46 team, offering to test the Honda bike on the Monday at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The Ongetta team were happy but Honda didn’t want Fenati to come in and test their bike right away.
Current Ongetta rider Nico Antonelli is expected to replace current Moto3 World Championship leader and Moto2 bound Brad Binder in the KTM Red Bull Ajo team alongside Bo Bensnyder for next season.
