Perfect Rins wins Moto2 race in Texas
Alex Rins rode a perfect race to cap a perfect weekend as he claimed his first victory of 2016 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
The Spaniard was faultless all weekend and continued that fashion when he got away from his pole position perfectly before. Whilst he did come under pressure from Lowes, the Brit never managed to seriously challenge Rins, but more than kept the Spaniard honest for the win. Behind the front two, Zarco overcame an intense battle for third position.
Despite his best efforts, Lowes settled for second place backing off for the final few laps and ultimately crossing the line two seconds behind Rins.
Zarco managed to get the better of Dominique Aegerter, Jonas Folger, Simone Corsi and Tom Luthi for third place. Luthi had held third position for large portions of the race however he was ultimately relegated down to seventh place with the World Champion getting the best of the Swiss rider.
Lowes’ second position was enough to give him the World Championship lead by a single point over race winner Alex Rins as the series heads back to Europe with Jerez on the calendar next up in just two weeks time.
