James Rispoli wildcarding in Indy

James Rispoli will be wildcarding in the Indianapolis Moto2 race for the GP Tech Team next month.

GP Tech Team will be return to the MotoGP paddock, and will be entering Rispoli into the Moto2 race.

After fielding Jason di Salvo in 2010 (9th) and Jake Gagne in 2011 (31st) team owner Geoff Maloney has picked AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike rider James Rispoli to ride a customer Tech3 Mistral 610 Moto2 machine.

Rispoli has good pedigree, and is the 2011 and 2012 AMA Pro SuperSport Champion. The 22-year old, according to a statement was chosen for numerous reasons, including his aggressive style making an impression both on and off the track.

Team manager Maloney said, “It’s great to be able to field a Moto2 wild card entry in 2013. With the support of Tech 3 equipment and more enthusiastic sponsors like 1-855czaialaw.com, we are going to be able to put in a first class effort.

“I am equally excited to bring on the services of young gun rider James Rispoli. I have seen James excel over the years and when I started looking around to see who would be good for the job his name kept rising to the top of my list.

“The goal of my program has always been to expose American talent to an International audience and I am sure James is going do us all proud and really enjoy the ride.”

When asked about it all Rispoli could say was, “Unbelievable”.

“Honestly, this could be a once in a life time opportunity so I look forward to doing everything I can to absorb everything I can learn and become an even better rider from this experience.

“I am excited and so very thankful to Geoff Maloney for considering me for this ride. I am grateful to my team, National Guard/Celtic Racing for allowing me to take this one-off ride and I can’t thank my personal sponsor Monster Energy enough for all their support and coordination to help make this happen.

“I’m training hard, reviewing video from past Indy races and can’t wait to get on with the first test,” said Rispoli.
