Vinales back to the top of Moto3

Maverick Vinales powered his way to the top of the time sheets after day two of the Moto3 test at Jerez in much better conditions amongst KTM domination.

After playing it safe, and finishing 7th yesterday in tricky Jerez conditions, Maverick Vinales put in a staggering 1’46″805 lap.

Vinales has shown sensational form in the 2013 pre season testing, breaking lap records at Almeria and Valencia as he looks set to right the wretched 2012 that he endured with the Blusens Avintia team.

2011 Spanish champion Alex Rins, who sat out Tuesday,was right on the tail of the 2012 bronze medal winner, and as a result he was just 0.006s behind across the line.

Luis Salom finished the day in third on his new Red Bull Ajo KTM machine, and he was only three tenths back from Vinales.

Jonas Folger was fourth fastest, and continues to impress since his mid season move to the Aspar Kalex machine. Despite being forth fastest he was still more than nine tenths behind Vinales’ quickest time of the day.

Fifth place was the impressive Mahindra Racing’s Miguel Oliveira, as he continues to work with the new Mahindra Suter Moto3 project.

Surprise of the day was came in the shape of Juanfran Guevara. The Moto3 rookie was sixth on his TSR Honda, and he even led the first session of the day.

South African Brad Binder dropped to seventh after yesterday’s second place, but was still progression in the dry. Binder was just 0.008s quicker than Oliveira’s Mahindra team mate Efrén Vázquez, who was 8th.

The fastest man from yesterday, Danny Webb, was ninth position in the dry,  ahead of Redox RW Racing GP’s Jakub Kornfeil in tenth and 1.824 from Vinales with his Kalex KTM.
