Sunny Valencia or rainy Jerez, it doesn’t seem to matter to Nico Terol as he was fastest again during day one of the Moto2 test at Jerez.

In the wet conditions the fastest man was Aspar’s Nicol Terol. The 2011 125cc World Champion posted a time of 1’53″831, which put him at the top of the timesheets during the middle session.

Second place and just 0.168s adrift of was Simone Corsi. The Italian who is still getting used to his NGM Forward Speed Up SF13 machine and after three seasons of being a threat could 2013 be a chance to really compete?

Julian Simon continues to impress on his new Italtrans Kalex as the 2010 Moto2 runner up was third fastest.

Title favorite Pol Espargaro was fourth as he continued to learn in the wet rather than attempted to break lap records in the horrid conditions.

Brit Scott Redding was fifth on his Marc VDS Kalex, and he was the last of only four riders within a second of Terol’s fastest lap.

Frenchman Johann Zarco was sixth on his IODA racing machine, just ahead of Marc VDS’ second rider Mika Kallio.

A trio of Spanish riders, rounded out the top 10 as Ricky Cardus, Jordi Torres and Tito Rabat, were eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Despite the  weather conditions the only rider to suffer a fall was Idemitsu Honda Team Asia’s Yuki Takahashi.
