“Zero Chance” of Stoner replacing Bradl in Phillip Island
Repsol Honda team principal Livio Suppo has denied rumours that Casey Stoner may deputise for Stefan Bradl at the Australian Grand Prix next weekend.
The Australian will be down in Victoria, and will be at the circuit as he joins Mick Doohan and Wayne Gardener in a parade lap at the Phillip Island circuit.
But with Stefan Bradl battling against fitness for next weekend , rumours have been rife that the two-time MotoGP World Champion may stand in for the German.
However team principal Suppo was quick to quash these rumours.
Speaking to German media, the Italian said that there is; ‘Zero chance Casey will ride at Phillip Island in any case.’
Stoner of course started his MotoGP career with the LCR team, before moving to Ducati after just one season, where he went on to win the World Championship.
Fans and rider all would be keen to see Stoner come back, and current MotoGP points leader Marc Marquez said: “For me it would be an honour to race against Casey, and it would be interesting to find out how fast he still is. For me, it’d be a dream come true if I could fight him.”
Stoner of course won the last six MotoGP races at Phillip Island, only Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP field has won a premier class victory at Phillip Island to his name.
