Gigi Dall’Inga now head of Ducati Corse

Gigi Dall’Igna has been annouced as the new General Manager of Ducati Corse, replacing Berhard Gobmeier at the end of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship season.

The Italian will join the Bologna company, moving from his highly successful role at Aprilia, replacing the German who took over the role just a year ago, when Audi took over Ducati.

Dall’Igna isn’t a stranger to the GP paddock after a successful stint, before shifting to the World Superbike paddock, and is credited as the man behind the success of the RSV4.

“Thanks to this appointment, we can look forward to the next racing season with renewed motivation,” said Claudio Domenical, Ducati Motor Holding CEO.

“We are confident that the new Ducati Corse organisation, and a strategy even more focussed on technical development, will help us achieve our targets, ensuring that Ducati once again becomes a key player both in MotoGP and Superbike.

“I would like to personally thank Bernhard for his work during these past ten months, and wish Gigi a warm welcome. I am certain that his solid experience combined with our technology and R&D and the technical support supplied by the Audi/VW Group, will help us restore Ducati to the level of racing excellence it had in the very recent past.”

Dall’Inga’s first official day in charge is 11th November 2013, the day after the final round of the 2013 season. Dall’Igna’s first task will be to help Cal Crutchlow in his high profile move from Tech3 to the factory Ducati team.

Gobmeier will now assume a new role within Volkswagen.
