Folger sustains training injury
Jonas Folger has broken his wrist in a Motocross training injury ahead of this weekends Catalunya Grand Prix at Montmelo.
The GP riders preferred training method, and favourite way to injury themselves has claimed yet another victim. The young German crashed while training in Mantova with compatriot and Moto2 Desguaces La Torre SAG rider Marcel Schrötter, and he ‘felt a sharp pain’ in his right wrist immediately.
It was later diagnosed as fractures to his radius and ulna.
“With the bad luck I had last Wednesday, I had a silly fall and hurt myself,” the Aspar rider said in an interview with the official MotoGP website.
“It appears as though I have cracked a bone in my right wrist, so I’m resting it in order to recover as soon as possible. I hurts a little, but it is getting better every day.”
In spite of the injuries, Folger is hoping to feature in this weekends Grand Prix. The wrist is in a splint and a bandage, and will assessed by paddock Doctor, Dr. Costa on Thursday before a final decision expected Friday morning, when Folger said he will “grit his teeth’ and head to track to try it wrist out.
Folger is currently fourth in the Moto3 standings, 43 points behind championship leader Maverick Vinales.
