Monster to sponsor factory Yamaha
A deal that was expected to be confirmed from December has today been rubber stamped, Monster Energy will be sponsoring the factory Yamaha team for the 2013 and 2014 MotoGP seasons.
When the news broke that Yamaha had paid off World Champion Jorge Lorenzo’s rockstar deal this deal looked like dead set, building on the excising relationship between the two brands.
Monster are the title sponsor of the Japanese brand and will be visible on both the M1’s on Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, as well as visible on the leathers of the pair, and all team wear worn by both crews.
MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has a personal engagement with Monster Energy and Yamaha included in the agreement, in Lehman’s terms meaning the World Champion will also have Monster personal sponsorship.
Yamaha managing director Lin Jarvis said “We are very happy to be able to announce the start of a new chapter in the Yamaha – Monster Energy partnership.
“Monster Energy is already a major partner to Yamaha’s top global sports activities in many domestic and international racing activities around the world in Motocross, Supercross, Endurance and Superbike disciplines. They have also been the title sponsor of the Monster Energy Tech 3 Yamaha team for the past 4 years. The expansion to include the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Team is a logical and prestigious expansion of the program.”
The Yamaha Tech3 team’s Monster sponsorship won’t be effected by the factory also getting sponsorship from the American brand, and all four Yamaha’s will be sponsored by Monster next year.
Whether this is already the Rossi factor, or not we can only assume, but regardless of why Monster have decided to up their sponsorship its a huge boost for MotoGP and for Yamaha.
