Pedrosa critical of Marquez’ riding
Dani Pedrosa has criticised team-mate Marc Marquez’ riding after a collision yesterday that saw Pedrosa crash out of the Aragon Grand Prix.
Dani Pedrosa said Marc Marquez overstepped the mark during yesterday’s Aragon Grand Prix.
Pedrosa was left fuming after he suffered a huge crash, moments after narrowly avoiding serious contact with Marquez, however it later emerging that contact between the pair had damaged Pedrosa’s traction control system, leading to his high-side.
Marquez didn’t receive any immediate punishment, and he went on to win the race, ultimately meaning Marquez is now 59 points clear of Pedrosa with four races left.
After the Grand Prix Pedrosa told Spanish television that he feels the race stewards aren’t being forceful enough on his rookie team mate.
“Marc is always riding on the limit when he has riders in front,” Pedrosa told Spanish television.
“This time, like he has been doing all year, he almost hit me from behind and when he touched me he broke the traction control sensor and I just flew.
“That was the end of my race; I fell because of that.
“It’s obvious that it doesn’t matter what I say now – it’s over now.
“On days like this you only hear the winner but I’d like to say that race control has been taking things too lightly with things that have been happening in recent years.
“A lot of experienced riders like myself have been trying to calm down others with less experience, but in this case, as usual, they have looked the other way.
“The ones who have been warning about this over the years, like Jorge or me, also know how to race over the limit, and everything is fine.”
The race stewards have said there won’t be any punishment dished out prior to the Malaysian Grand Prix meeting, if the stewards decide they want to punish Marquez at all.
Marquez isn’t a stranger to criticism from his peers either. After a multitude of incidents in his two seasons in Moto2, he also caused controversy when he clashed with Jorge Lorenzo in just his second MotoGP race in Jerez.
2013 is the first year where MotoGP have implemented their new penalty points system, whether they decide to punish Marquez or not we will have to wait and see.
