Marc Marquez’ incredible testing save

It’s not often that pictures from a test would draw so much attention. Usually it would be a new exhaust can or air intake that would the most interesting pictures from a test, but today’s one day test in Brno has seen arguably the most outstanding save ever captured on camera.

The man who made the save isn’t a surprise, it was Marc Marquez who has made a habit of saving almost certain crashes, and we can thank his friend, Tino Martino for the outstanding photographs captured.

“I was surprised too, when I saw that picture,” said Marquez speaking to GPone.com. “I lost the front, I was practically on the ground, but the bike continued to slide, not stop. So I decided to re-open the gas and do not ask me why, the bike resumed its trajectory and raised up.”

Despite the near crash, it was a near perfect day for Marquez, who set a ultimate track record on his 2015 RC213V, showing yesterday’s fourth place was a blimp in the exemplary season he is enjoying.

“Last night I slept well, but I had some question to answer and was fortunate to have to have this test day available. I knew something strange happened, and now I have confirmation. It was a combination of things, the setup was not perfect, a circuit where I struggle and a tyre that had something wrong,” he went on to explain as to why he finished fourth yesterday.

Despite working out what the issues were, Marquez didn’t want to point fingers or blame anybody else. He insists he will take the responsibility himself.

“I wanted to be sure, I don’t like to point fingers at this or that, I prefer to take responsibility. The rubber wasn’t perfect. This morning I went to the track, with the same setup used in the race and was immediately faster. I ran with a pace of 1’56, I was able to race there.”

Marquez was happy today when he got the chance to test next years bike once again. He had the chance to test the bike prior to the summer break, and didn’t enjoy the best of times with rain and crashes hampering his progress in Brno. However today he was much happier.

“I found it better than in the first test a month ago, it has a great potential, although it’s not yet perfect. But it is already faster than the current one. I’d like to use it this season, but I spoke with the team and the engineers and we decided not to do so. The RC213V in 2014 is very good and it would be useless to take risks.”

Marc Marquez re-writing the laws of physics, must be the motogp photo of 2014, incredible
considering the angle of the front wheel.

Look up the video of Randy Mamola’s recovery of a highside at the 1985 500cc San Marino Grand Prix Misano–on youtube.

He really is magic on those bikes. Actually they all are, he’s just a tiny bit more.

Marc is awesome. He is an incredible asset to the sport and is raising the bar. However this “crash” scares me since saving a crash like this is how Marco died a few years ago. (Obviously not exactly the same but close) I wish this kid would just back off enough to have a long and outstanding career such as Valentino is. Gotta love the kid though. =)

I completely agree. I thought the exact same thing. He looks just like Simoncelli did on his final fatal turn… Fortunately there was no one behind him. Marc continually pushes to the edge. Every corner looks like a crash. He probably sees himself as the next Agostini and is willing to risk his life to prove it.

Those sparks in the first image, are they from cajones being dragged?
