Moto3 veteran Efren Vazquez has undergone successful operation in Barcelona on the right collarbone he broke during free practice ahead of the French Grand Prix this weekend.

Vazquez had the surgery Hospital Universitario Dexeus in Barcelona, and was operated on by rider fixer Dr. Xavier Mir who has recently operated on Andrea Iannone and Stefan Bradl, and Dr Mir inserted a metal plate by the right shoulder of the Bilbao rider.

The Spaniard had to have the plate inserted closer to the shoulder after past surgery back in 2006.

“The difficulty is that it was a fracture that was where I had put a plate of an old injury. In principle we are very pleased with the stability of the plaque that we have, but we have to see how it evolves,” said Dr. Mir after leaving the operating room.

Vazquez is now in a race against time to see if he can be fit for the next round at Mugello in just under a fortnights time. “I know the issue and certainly, together, we will see if it is feasible to run in ten days in Mugello,” said Dr. Mir.
