Briton Danny Webb posted the fastest lap of the day during a damp and difficult day one of Moto3 testing in Jerez.

The tricky conditions caught many of the riders from the junior classes out including Florian Alt, Matteo Ferrari, Francesco Bagnaia, Alan Techer, Philipp Oettl, and Marc VDS new boy Livio Loi.

Whilst the conditions proved a worthy advisory for Estrella Galica riders Alex Rins and Alex Marquez, and the recovering Niccolò Antonelli also decided to give day one a miss.

Danny Webb, who is turning out to be a bit of a wet weather specialist posted the fastest lap time of the day with a  1’56″924, a lap which was more than four tenths faster than second place, and his teammate Brad Binder who is continuing his impressive form. Third place was Aussie Jack Miller on his FTR Honda.

Factory KTM Ajo riders Fahmi Khairuddin and Luis Salom, were fourth and fifth respectively, whilst Aspar’s German Jonas Folger was sixth and just 0.023s from Salom on his Kalex KTM.

Maverick Viñales, who was breaking lap records in Almera and Valencia last week, was seventh and little more of a second of pace as he continued to learn to ride in the wet.

Miguel Oliveira continued to impress on his new Mahindra Suter as he finished eighth, ahead of the final Ajo Red Bull KTM of Arthur Sissis and John McPhee.
